Local Farmer’s Markets Feature GRAZEFESTSTM
Tucson Farmer’s Markets Celebrate the Flavors of Pasture Raised Foods Image courtesy Double Check Ranch What are you doing this coming Sunday? We suggest The Tucson Farmer’s Markets First annual GRAZEFESTSTM - A Celebration of Pasture Raised Foods from America’s Small Farms, the festival will be featuring samples, tastings and in Oro Valley (on Saturday) a Chefs Improv to highlight the benefits and pleasures of pasture raised foods. The GRAZEFESTSTM is scheduled for Saturday March 7 (Oro Valley) and continues at the Tucson Farmers’ Market at St. Philip’s Plaza on Sunday, March 8.
The Tucson Farmers’ Market is hosting GRAZEFESTSTM to bring together food lovers of all ages to sample local foods from the region’s most dedicated small-scale farmers and to help raise awareness of the health, environmental, and culinary benefits of allowing farm animals to roam on pasture and eat what nature intended. Appearing at the GRAZEFESTSTMare Paul Schwennesen from Double Check Ranch, Greg Vinton from JoJoba Beef Co., Brian LaPrarie from BX Ranch, Brown’s Orchard Lamb products and a Chefs Improv with Harvest Restaurant Premiere Chef - Ramero Scavo.
The Tucson Farmers’ Market is one of the many organizations across the nation to hold a Grazefest event this year. GRAZEFESTTM began in 2004 as a national grassroots campaign to promote diverse flavors and unique farming and ranching techniques of small-scale family farmers who are dedicating their lives to finding humane and environmentally responsible alternative to large-scale “factory farms.” Grass-based farming has gained favor with animal welfare advocates, wildlife preservationists, environmentalists, health and nutrition experts, and social justice advocates who view these unique farming and ranching techniques as critical to the health and well-being of farm animals and the farmers who work the land. It has also captured the attention of food enthusiasts and professional chefs, who embrace the unique flavors and outstanding quality of the beef, pork, lamb, goat, eggs and cheeses that come from animals raised on well-managed pastures.
The Oro Valley Farmer’s Market is located at the corner of Naranja & La Canada in the Town Hall complex and is open from 9:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. The festival will continue on Sunday at the Tucson Farmer’s Market at St Philip’s Plaza on February 11, from 9:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. The Tucson Farmer’s Market is located on the Southeast corner of River and Campbell in the St. Philip’s Plaza.
